Wow! What a year.

It started with a couple Fat Bike races in the snow.

We hiked to the gorgeous Apostle Island Ice Caves.

We saw a 58 year old Ned Overend put a hurtin' on the youngsters at the Fat Bike Birkie Fat Bike Nationals.

I did some gravel grinding in Dekalb with Slow_Moe (Dan).

I bought my first carbon bike, a Trek Domane, with the hopes of inspiring me do more road riding. The bike fits me like a custom bike. I said goodbye to my Lemond Poprad as I traded it in for the Trek Domane.

We explored Alaska, kayaking with the whales and hiking near glaciers. It was amazing.

I got my first legitimate podium at the Kettle Moraine Winter Color Fest when only two teams entered the race we were in. Sue Ward (Craft) and I only rode one lap and called it a day. Conditions were brutal, it was warm, it rained the day before, and the snow was mostly slush. Even the best riders had to push their bikes for much of the course. Sue Franz got stuck in a snow storm and couldn't make it.

I decided BMX was not for me and sold the TNT Stovepipe 24" BMX bike.

I converted my 2006 Cannondale Six13 to a 17 pound cruiser with 28c tires, Cruiser bars, thumb shifters and flat pedals.

I got a couple of awesome frame bags from Bike Bag Dude in Australia.

I got my first Brooks saddle.

I attempted to ride 100 miles in the back yard quarry only to be thwarted by the weather. Rain made condition tough and I was only able to ride 60.12 miles. Still, it is my longest Fat/Mountain bike ride ever, and many awesome people were there to share the day and make it very fun and special.

I watched Sue get her 1st Chequamegon Short & Fat podium when she entered the first Fat Bike Class in the history of the event.

We got to test ride a some sweet Salsa Fat Bikes on the Makwa Trail, including the Salsa Bucksaw full suspension Fat Bike, the most awesome mountain bike ever built.

We explored new waterfalls in northern Wisconsin.

I rode the famous Elroy-Sparta Trail for the first time.

We explored the beautiful Starved Rock State Park in Illinois and then rode the nearby I & M Canal Trail.

I watched the Chequamegon 100, took a lot of pictures, and survived the killer mosquitoes.

I rode the Badger State and Sugar River Trails for the first time.

I got an electric assist (only assists when you pedal) Felt LEBOWSKe Fat Bike. This amazing technology will allow me to ride another year (hopefully more) with my dying muscles.
With the LEBOWSKe I actually waited for Sue at the top of a climb for once, but not very long, Sue's a strong rider that has been held back and slowed by riding with me and my muscle problems. I rewarded her by letting her ride the LEBOWSKe up the rest of the hill. I'm glad I didn't have to fight her to get it back! I love this woman! She is very special.

I finished in 9th place in the Mountain Bike Thread on bikejournal with over 1200 miles of mountain biking.

And the worlds greatest parents got me a sweet titanium 28 pound Moots FrosTi Fat Bike for achieving my goal of riding 2000 miles this year. The last time I was able to ride 2000 miles was in 2007.
