The parkway path connects up to the road (Tepper?) under Lockhaven finally, but there is no curb cut, so one has to ride the sidewalk to the traffic light.
Wardrobe: Started with arm and leg warmers. Was cold, so got Kim to bring me my Kraft shirt to wear under my jersey for the ride home. Was much better then. |

What a dream! I love my Road, but the 700 handled like an utter dream. Didn't have my bike shoes, so I couldn't clip in. Noticed a bit more road vibration -- even when not using the neckrest -- prolly due to smaller front wheels. Didn't like the bar end shifters very much. I was surprised at how comfortable the recline was. I really liked it.
Will definitely go back for a longer ride with my GPS to gather some data (no accurate speed data today -- just an educated guess). This might be a replacement for Trikey.... |

First ride of more than an hour in a while. Felt good. Beautiful fall colors.
I think I caused a tiny little tear in my right quadricep on my ride home the other night, as it gave an occasional twinge today if I mashed too hard....
MAINTENANCE: First ride with overhauled factory rear wheel. Wow. Better than new. Also greased tubes in the headsets and the right axle tube. Straightened tiny bend in right brake rotor and got some silence finally. I continue to be happy with the new chain route (double set of idler wheels), but I still need to order a replacement return idler to get it finalized.
Wardrobe: leg warmers, arm warmers, jersey, bike shorts, wool socks, three-season gloves. During the last hour, I wished I had worn a Craft shirt as a base layer....

Went out hoping to catch some of the strong tailwinds. Not a well-planned ride. Left too late and hit dark in Turner, as well as some rain.
Riding 38 mph in the dark, cold rain was interesting. I did find a south wind for a tailwind, but it was not very satisfying at night as I had few visual references.
I need better lights for this kind of riding. Wet pavement just sucked up the light from the Sigma EvoX. Best light was from my DiNotte headlight, but I need to move the mount so it's not behind the fairing. The glare doesn't matter in town (and the illuminated fairing is eye-catching), but on a dark, rainy country road, it kills night vision. |

Last ride for 2007. Got sick and had asthma flare-up shortly after this ride.
Finished the year at 5075 miles. My original goal for the year was 3,000 miles, so I am very pleased.
I completed 27 metric centuries, of which 2 were double-metrics and 7 were statute centuries.
My goal for 2008 is to ride 6,000 miles, or more miles than I drive (whichever is greater). I am almost positive I accomplished this for 2007, but I didn't keep good records of car mileage. |
