Comments: Gary Trap and I rode up Coit and down Grand River into Ada to meet Jochen's group. We were early, so we rode down Grand River a ways and back. We passed Snow just as Scott Chapman was on his way to the start, probably making Scott check his watch! After meeting with Jochen's group, we rode a few miles with them, and then Gary continued on with them, while I rode back to N Park St so I could be home by Noon.

Comments: Ron, Kevin, and I rode down East Paris to 108th, and around the loop. Ron was falling behind, so he took 144th across, while Kevin and I took 142nd across. Coming back up Kalamazoo, Kevin missed the turn onto 6th. I yelled and waved, but couldn't get his attention. By the time I realized he wasn't coming back and started after him, he was about 1/2 mile ahead of me, and I never caught him. Took Kalamazoo to 108th, got back on track, and took Hanna Lk back.

Comments: Brian, Mike, and I rode the Duncan Lk route. Went out into a 20mph SSE wind. Going down East Paris, Mike split the paceline when he took his first pull and tried to maintain the speed that we were moving when Brian handed it over (ie, going into a downhill!) It was a long suffer-fest on the way out, but it was all worthwhile when we turned North and even though the wind had subsided a bit, we were suddenly flying along at 23-26mph without much effort!

Kevin and I rode the NorthWest route (up Musketawa, across 15 mile, down Division)

A wild turkey was on the bike path, and we got fairly close before it took flight.

It was a 48 mile route, but a couple bonus miles when I took a wrong turn added 2 miles to round it up to an even 50.

Comments: Challenger -- Hill Night

10 of us started out. Two guys were falling behind, and when I dropped back to talk to them, they said that they lived to the South, and were going to split off from us at 92nd st.

The rest of us continued up the 92nd St hill to Eastern, down a REALLY nice hill, and out 100th to Division.

The bulk of the group turned East at 146th, while Mike, Scott, and I continued on to 144th.

We had to drop Scott to put on enough speed to do it, but Mike and I managed to keep our speed above 22mph the whole way up Hannah lake, and catch the tail end of the other group in the middle of the bike trail on the return trip.

Comments: Adam, Brian, Phil, Don, Scott, Ron, Jerry and I rode the Duncan Lake route.

The group was getting a little spread out, but we regrouped every few miles.

At Eastern and 142nd, the Fast Group (Jerry, Brian, and I) turned West, while the Good pace group continued North.

We caught up with the rear of the Good paced group between 76th and 68th, and by the middle of the bike path had passed all but two of the Good paced riders (or so I thought.)

When we got back to Challenger, there was one rider I couldn't account for. Phil and Brian told me that there had been four, not three riders that took the long route.

I rode back out the bike path and down to 68th, but didn't see Adam. I turned around and came back through the neighborhood and back to Challenger, and saw that all the cars were gone.

Just as I was arriving home, my phone chirped to let me know I had a voicemail. It was Brian, telling me that Adam had arrived back at Challenger about 5 minutes after I had left to go look for him.

So my 30 mile ride ended up turning into a 40 mile ride. I had been pacing myself for a 30 mile ride, so I was *BEAT*!

Comments: Dan G., Dave E., Phil P., Brian L., Lee R., Dan D., and I rode the Duncan Lake Route.... sort of.

When we turned onto Hanna Lake, something in Dan D's bike make a horrible racket like something on the wheel was hitting the frame. We looked it over, but didn't find anything. When we got to East Paris, he had a flat. I stopped to help and to loan him a CO2 inflater, and the rest of the group continued on. Dan found that he had a large roofing nail stuck in his tire.

While Dan and I fixed his flat, the rest of the group made it to the next turn (92nd) and then stopped at the next intersection and called me. I assured them that we were just about finished fixing the flat, and would catch up in a few minutes.

Dan and I got back on the road and caught up with the rest of the group, only to find that Lee was missing (apparently he was off the back of the group when the group made the turn.) While the rest of the group continued on, I went back to see if Lee had missed the turn.

When I got back to East Paris, I had cell phone reception again, so I called Lee to see where he was. He had turned the wrong way on 92nd, and was near Hanna Lake and 108th.

I told him to go East on 108th and then South on Eastern, and he would eventually run into the group as they came around the loop.

I took off down Eastern myself, and got back on the route going backwards, and started time trialing looking for Lee.

Around that time, Brian called me to say that Dan had flatted again, and that they were at 92nd and Kraft. I told them to continue along the route, and to call me again if they didn't see me by the time they got to 108th.

When I got to Gackler, I still hadn't found Lee, so I pulled my phone out and watched the bars until I had reception again, stopped, and called Lee. He had just turned off 108th onto Eastern. I told Lee to keep going South on Eastern, and we would meet up with him shortly.

I continued along Gackler, and in about another 1/2 mile I found the main group. I turned around and joined them, and we made our way back to Patterson, 141st, and Eastern. At 142nd and Eastern, we found Lee.

I hollered to Lee to follow me up Eastern, but he didn't hear me and followed the group across 142nd to Kalamazoo (with me off the back trying to catch up again!)

Going up Kalamazoo, Lee started to fall off the back of the pack, so I dropped back and rode in with him. We mostly managed to keep the main group in sight until we got to 6th st, where they put some distance on us.

We made it back to Challenger just a few minutes behind the group, in plenty of time to chat a bit before the group dispersed.

I don't think any two people had the same stats tonight, but mine were:

The lead group went straight off the curve on Division, and got back to Division just in time to see the next group turn onto 144th.

The lead group continued on to 142nd and over to Kalamazoo Ave, passing Marie's as the rear of the group came out of Marie's and turned onto 6th st.

The (former) lead group overtook most of the rest of the group, and pacelined up Hanna Lk at about 20-24mph.
