Hi Gwwisman,
Thanks for joining the Ride of Silence in the Livonia-Dearborn for 2006. Please tell all your cycling friends about this very important ride and ask them to be a part of this major event that aims to make the road safer for all cyclists (and joggers, runners, roller bladers and all).
Sincerely,

Hello gwwisman! I am see from your pictures that you are also enjoy to ride in snow. In April temperature is for the first time this year above freezing in Belarus and snow is only in mountains. Secret we are using in Belarus for riding in winter is to put vodka in water bottles to prevent from freezing. Maybe you use similar technique in Michigan

Thanks! I did the sub 5 hour on the trip back from East Lansing to Fenton in the mid-Michigan MS ride. The wind was more of a cross tail early in the day and was only at about 5 mph. Saturday was a different story though. 20 mph headwind, T-storms and 60 degrees. I only did the first 60 then rode in with the wife who was volunteering at a rest stop. You should think about doing it next year. We could get a Trek 5000 team going. Keep up the strong miles.

Hey GWM, thanks for the comment on the Enough is Enough thread. I'd love to talk with you more about how you manage to get as many miles as you do in Michigan! I'm looking out my window this morning and seeing snow falling sideways...... not good. Hope to see you on the roads at some point.

GWM, I just noticed a comment you put on my profile almost a month ago! Sorry, I have only had a couple comments in 9 years and am not in the habit of checking. Thank you for the comment. Are you sure you were talking about me? I, too, thoroughly enjoyed the ride and your and your wife's company. Remember, when you are going to be in the area again let me know. We'll plan a big loop on some great roads.

Hi, I am known as Iowa Hammer and have ridden about the same miles this year as you. I grew up in New Hudson, MI on Pontiac Trail about 1 mile west of town so just had to write to you. I'm 76 and started biking about 33 years ago when my knees would not support running anymore. I now bike around Ottumwa, IA were I worked for John Deere for 36+ years and now spend about 3 month in Mesa, AZ where I also bike a lot.

Did you get my email?

Yeah I changed back to BillGil. Florida has been flooded by people from The Villages in the last year, I suppose they could be legit but I have my doubts. Anyways I decided my protest wasn't accomplishing anything so now I just use the "Members Since" filter.

History:

I started biking seriously in 1981 in order to compete in a triathlon because a friend dared me to. After my first triathlon I continued training for and competing in triathlons for 5 more years during which I fell in love with biking. Running seemed to hurt more and more and biking felt better the more miles I did. Biking is my main sport but I also swim, lift weights, and x-country ski in the winter. I also love to canoe, kayak, or raft white water.

I recorded on paper a little over 65,000 miles of rides before joining bikejournal in 2004.:
2002 - 2283 miles
2003 - 3719 miles
2004 - 4498 miles
