Woke up one day tired of being 275 # and took up walking and cut back eating. Dropped 50 # and got tired of walking. Bought a MTB in the fall of '01, cross-bike spring '02, and started upgrading w/ road bikes later in '02. Lost a bit more at the health club. Now I'm doing about 4K a year on mostly club rides and a few tours. I kept yo-yoing around 215 # and just couldn't drop any lower. Finally joined W/W and re-dedicated my time at the gym to Spinning, Body Pump, and Yoga with extra core work. I finally dropped another 30 pounds and increased total body strength. Hills and group rides are a LOT more fun this year!! At 64, I just wish that I'd found cycling earlier !! |
