...was a steady bike commuter in my teen years. A fair weather city commuter in my twenties. In 2003 at age 49 I began again doing occasional work commutes and trail riding for fitness and health. Since using BikeJournal I have increased my biking effort significantly.

stats of personal significance:
  • traveled the Erie canal towpath from Lockport to Newark, and part between Syracuse and Rome
  • the Lehigh Valley trail from Genesee Valley park to Fischers, south and east of The Rochester junction, as well as several miles along the Greenway and Riverway trails;
  • Regularly commute to work;

  • Keeping statistics and a journal, helps set and accomplish goals. Unfortunately, it has also revealed the insipid decline of aging (relatively minor), indicated by a performance decline on my daily work-outs/commutes.
  • Bikejournal's features are intuitive and immensely easy to use.
  • The BJ forums are a great source of wit, wisdom and expertise!
  • Meeting riders of various interests, through their journals, forum participation, and organized rides, increases riding knowledge and improves technique. Additionally the Bikejournal community makes possible the opportunity to meet new friends and broaden your perspective.
