Any of you familiar with the Family on Bikes? This summer, they're coming to Colorado to enjoy the Colorado Trail, and I've just confirmed a venue so they can begin their journey with us in the Denver area, with a slide show and Q&A session, to be held on Tuesday, May 29, 7-10PM at Jefferson Unitarian, 14350 W. 32nd Avenue, Golden, Colorado 80401.
This AMAZING family last year completed a 17,290 mile journey from the top of Alaska to the tip of S. America. Nancy Vogel is an accomplished author as well. At this very moment, the entire family are finalists in CNN's iReport awards in the personal story category... one of 6 finalists among thousands of entries! ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-564658
Would love to have anyone who wants to attend this event... and it's FREE!
Those in the area, you won't want to miss this event! Their website is www.familyonbikes.org/

I'd go if this were closer.
I have followed "Family on Bikes" when they first rode around the Western US, Northern Mexico and back to the US to the Northeast on a Triple and single.

I also eagerly followed them on their journey from Prudhoe Bay to Tierra del Fuego.
What an adventure that family is having and what an education those two boys are getting with their travels.

Event is still on, venue is set, PLEASE spread the word! There's no knowing when they'll be back this way! They asked for a venue, so I made the arrangements. You don't even have to miss your Memorial Day picnics for this! Aren't you curious about what a self-guided tour like this is like? Don't you want to know the challenges and potential experiences? The twin boys who made this journey while still in their 'tweens' have seen more of the world and experienced more cultures than most adults encounter in a lifetime... And they did it atop the saddles of bicycles!

Actually, after the event, they are going hiking from Denver to Durango on the Colorado Trail.

I know that. That's why I didn't say they're going to ride it. I said they're going to ENJOY it.

Just made the flyer that our cycling club will be handing out to our Unitarian fellowship this Sunday. The front is an image, the back has details. Here it is!

And on the back...
What do you get when you have 2 burned out teachers, highly curious 10-year-old boys, and the world at your doorstep…?
Imagine… a 17,290 mile bike ride from the northern reaches of the Arctic to the Southern tip of South America. Through 14 countries, a three-year journey began with 10-year-old year old twin boys who became 13-year old young men by its conclusion. What an adventure! To learn more about this remarkable ride and meet the intrepid Vogel family, come see a slideshow and hear their tales of this adventure.
Nancy Sathre-Vogel, already a published author about previous bicycle adventures, is currently writing about this remarkable ride. Both Vogel parents are accomplished teachers who "world schooled" their children during this amazing journey!
When: Tuesday, May 29th, 7PM Where: Jefferson Unitarian Church, Willis Chapel Sponsored by the JUC Spokespeople
