I see a few goal-oriented Challenges out there for next year. Are you a goal-oriented person? Care to share your goals here?

I'll start. I've been working on a goal of riding in all fifty states in the USA. My 2018 goal is to push the current tally up to 49, with plans to hit #50 (Hawaii) in 2019. My second goal is to finally do my first multi-day off-road bikepacking trip. This is one I've been dreaming about for a while and I'm certainly not getting any younger so this will be the year.

So what are your 2018 goals?
Say it out loud and make those dreams happen!

It's a pleasure to be here; both on this earth and on this site.

Goals:

To ride another full year.

Looking for 5K miles again; missed it by under a 100 miles in 2017.

Ride 230 days. I love to ride.

I have been riding, pretty steady for 68 years. Even biked in the military over seas.

Wow all 50 states. That's a long way from the two I've cycled in. My goal will be the same. I start with a primary goal of 5000 miles. If I achieve that I shoot for 6000 if I have enough time.

I want to explore more. I have been riding pretty steady, in Southeast Michigan, since the early 80's and still there are so many areas within a 30 to 60 minute drive that I have never ridden in. I'm going to go exploring on my bike at least once per week.

I will most likely re-visit this and add other biking goals. So, Slow Moe, thanks for posting this early and giving me/us time to really think about what we want to accomplish next year.

For the past two years, Ive been doing a bike v. car challenge. The idea is to compare how many days and how many miles I travel by each mode of transportation. So far, the bike is the winner. This year, Id like to continue that: I want to ride my bike more miles than I drive my car, and I want to use my bike on more days of the year than I use the car. Pretty simple.

I'm hoping I get a chance to come up to the mitten state and ride with you next year, GWM. (Another goal!)

I too have gravitated from road rides to more off-road. My annual mileage has suffered but my cycling enjoyment has sky rocketed! Good luck, ptsbike.

Any time, just not in the dead of winter as I will most likely be in Florida.
