Is there any interest among the BJ members to have another reunion ride? In years past we had the Tailwinds crew smuggling Canadian maple syrup over the border and having flapjacks on Sunday morning. I wouldn't be against going back to the Talimena Parkway again to ride but there is something in me that says I really would luv to go to Utah and maybe ride some mt. trails and then also have the option of riding some road rides.

If we piggy backed off an organized ride out there whoever set the ride Reunion up wouldn't have to worry about setting rides up. In the past we did have a lot of fun if there was some camping involved and everybody could get together as a group. The option has to have hotels available though for those who don't like to camp Just throwing it out there to see if anybody wanted to get together and I would go anywhere the majority of the people wanted to go. It might be nice if the organized ride had a 2 day weekend ride Sat/Sun.

I would LOVE to have a reunion ride in Utah, since I'm already here. I woould be willing to help with organization, if someone else wants to pick a ride to piggyback off of.

Let's see what others weigh in with.

I like this idea. We bought a travel trailer a few months ago and we're planning a big trip out west to ride in three states I've not ridden in yet (MT, ID & WY) and visit National Parks, but UT is an amazing place. I've ridden near Moab and would love to return. Keeping an eye on this thread ...

Zman, just yesterday I pulled open a drawer and took out a t-shirt that I have never worn from the First Union in Mena, AK in September 2004. You must have read my mind about how much fun that First Union was.

Utah is a state in which I have never ridden. Will give it some thought, then I might mosey into Idaho and Wyoming, two other states that have escaped me.

Lets see what our bj brothers and sisters have to say about your reunion idea.

Did, I was in your neck of the woods last week. Stopped for a few beers at Starr Hill Brewery.

Darn, Sloe_Moe, you were about a mile from my house. I wished you had let me know. Did you get in any riding in the area? Blue Ridge Parkway? Skyline Drive?

I tried to contact you on one of the other threads here a few weeks ago. We didn't ride this time. We went to a museum and a couple of microbreweries this time. Last time we were there we toured Monticello and did some hiking in Shenandoah NP. Saw a bear! Beautiful country. I'm jealous.

Since you already live in Utah give us some ideas of organized rides in your area. Would there be a chance to have a road/mt bike ride together on the same weekend? Like my earlier post a campground is one of the things that made the Reunion rides. Moab sounds like a great place as I have heard nothing but good about rides out there.

Thanks
Zman

If you're going to shoot for Moab, keep in mind that summer is not the best time. It gets HOT.

I'll check ride schedules in the Salt Lake area. There's a ton of mountain bike trails within minutes of the city, and as far as road rides go, the Bonneville Cycling Club has a century ride at least twice a month. It would be easy enough to hook up with one of those.

Salt Lake would be a good place for people to fly into. II didn't know that about Moab.
