Very good, Kin. Glad to know I am not the only one who does that while riding. Every time I try adapting the lyrics from Garth Brooks "Ain't going down 'till the sun comes up", I seem to pick up about 2 mph.I'm afraid of what will happen to my VO2 if I break out the Ted Nugent.
However, the song "Turn the Page" was written by Bob Segar. Now, normally I don't pick nits, but we are talking about one of, if not THE best rock and roll songs of all time, by THE best rocker of all time. :)

I Wanna Ride your Bike
Adapted from I Wanna Hold Your Hand by the Beatles
Oh yea I'll
tell you something
I think you'll understand
I'll tell you something
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!
Yea You, got that Litespeed
I got a pink Huffy
and you, got that Dura-Ace
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!
And when I ride it I'll feel happy, inside
it's such a feeling, I'll take it home
and make it mine
make it mine
MAKE IT MINE!
Yea you, got that Litespeed
I got a pink Huffy
and you, got those aero bars
I wanna ride your bike!
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!
I WANNA RIDE YOUR BIKE!

A CD! That is a great idea. Good job Kin! I am still laughing over the "Shaft" remake. That rocks! and a tribute to Slantz! That is my climbing song I am going to sing in my head from now on. If you can sing that out loud and sing the line "html programmer" with out splitting up you are a better man than I am. "Can you dig it?"

Thanks Kin! I feel special now! You are the resident music master and photographer extraordinaire at bj.com-land.
BTW, I'm cooking red beans and rice.........drop by for Cajun cuisine. :)

How 'bout that Irving Berlin piece .....
Heaven, I'm in Heaven,
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak,
'Cause I'm pushed beyond my lactic threshhold peak,
When we're out together riding in the street!

I was thinking about Kin's bicycle songs as I was pedalling back to the office after lunch, and it ocurred to me that someone ought to bring it to Sheryl Crow's attention how appropriate it would be for her to do a cover of Randy Newman's I Love LA!
So far, I think that Turn the Wheels is Kin's best work (but then I also think it came from the best source material!), but I have to say that "'scuse me while I shave my thighs" is the best single line.

My wife keeps joking about it, but I haven't had the time (or is that creativity) to come up a remake of Sheryl Crow's Every Day is a Winding Road - perfect setup for a Lance/TdF song!! :)
Every Stage is a Winding Road
Adapted from Every Day is a Winding Road by Sheryl Crow
I hitched a ride with a five time Tour de France winner
He says he's been down these roads more than twice
He was high on Hammer Gel paks
I've never been there but the L'Alpe D'Huez looks nice
Jump on, let's go
Lay back, enjoy the tour
Everybody gets hot, everybody gets tired,
These are the days when anything goes
[Chorus]
Every stage is a winding road
I get a little bit closer
Every stage is a faded sign
I get a little bit closer to marrying Lance
He's got a son that he calls Luke
He was born on a Tuesday night
I'm just wondering why I feel so all alone
Why I'm a stranger in my own life
Jump on, let's go
Lay back, enjoy the tour
Everybody gets hot, everybody gets tired
These are the days when anything goes
[Chorus]
I've been swimming in a sea of reporters
I've been living on coffee and power bars
I've been wondering if all the things I've seen
Were ever real, were ever really happening
[Chorus]

Men On Bikes
We’re men.
We’re men in tights.
We roam around BikeJournal looking for rides
We’re men
We’re men on bikes.
We ride in brevets and century rides. That’s right!
We may pick up koozies
And wrenches and guns and a suitcase from freeway supply!
We’re men
We’re men on bikes
Always on guard against those jerks in their cars.
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la, la
We’re men (Manly men!)
We’re men in tights! Yes!
We roam around BikeJournal posting our miles
We’re men
We’re men on bikes
Commuters and riders and Cat three racers, that’s right!
This may look like lycra
But it’s not, it’s spandex – get it right!
We’re men
We’re men in tights (Tight tights!)
Watching Voeckler and Lance in bicycle fights!

The Cannondale Black Lightning
Adapted from The Downeaster 'Alexa' by Billy Joel
Well I'm on my Cannondale Black Lightning
And I'm cruising through all of France
I have charted a course to Paris
But today I'll give l'Alpe d'Hueze a chance
We took on Cliff Shots back in Cambrai yesterday
And left this morning from the town Châteaubriant
Like all the locals here I've learned to ride the hills
And going down them still gives me such a thrill
So I still ride my Cannondale Black Lightning
And I go where the road is wide
There are food stops out there in the canyons
And a good cyclist rides with pride
I've got miles to log and Accellerade to drink
And Power Bars to share if you give just a wink
They say this Tour's not what it used to be
How can one man win six and it's not me
So when you see my Cannondale Black Lightning
And if I seem to be riding just fine
Tell my wife I'm on the Champs-Élysées
And soon victory will be all mine
Now I ride my Cannondale Black Lightning
More and more miles throughout the year
And I log them all at BikeJournal
It is more fun to track them here
Slantz does such a great job with his web site
I hope he knows he does it just right
There ain't much future for a man who rides like me
But I'll log my miles for all of you to see
