 Bike Swap
Attempted to do some maintenance on my Look carbon bike being mainly cable replacement to improve recently poor shifting. Upon removing the handlebar tape I found that I had soon decent corrosion going. The handlebars had a few through holes and one good crack. Ordered a new set of handlebars, but also have to replace the stem extension as my old handlebars have a 26 mm diameter and most newer models have beefed up to 31 mm. Changed the cables and while trying out the brakes one of my cable lugs on the frame broke off. Not the first time this has happened and glued it back on. Unfortunately, the cure time for the glue is twenty-four hours and Saturday is a road trip to Henderson Harbor for a half-century. Took the Vortex titanium off the computrainer, swapped out the wheels and took it for a test ride since it has been over a year since it was ridden outside. Took an easy ride on the Johnson Hollow route. Felt good with the tailwind up To the hollow but fairly tired for remainder of ride. Milked the hill in a low gear and did very little afterward accept to acclimate myself to the different geometry of this bike. Frame isn't as snappy as the carbon but gives a smooth caramel flavored ride. Change made excessive noise on route and swapped it out after the ride.
