 1000 mile threshold
Passed the 1000 mile point for 2012. With 1005 miles, I am in the 18th spot for New Yorkers who report their mileage on Bikejournal. It took a bit longer than in the past, due mainly to the fact that my Knees make me capable of other activity. I am spending much time on yard projects...

Today the threat and ultimate pay-off of rainfall caused me to be wet on the ride home at noon, -wishing my Quest had fenders...

A downhill ravine roadway was fast today at 37.7mph. I'm thinking it was on the return run on C-P.T.L. Road by the Eichas Farm.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Today my weight is 238 pounds! Weight is a factor in performance -for sure. My best(lowest) weights in the past 5 years have averaged in the lower 230's. Right now I'm 5 pounds above my lowest typical YTD low weight from the recent past.
Hopeful glimmers would be the recent weight loss and a performance increase. Also YTD weight average(Jan-May)is lower than last year, but it is higher than the years 2008, 2009, 2010 -on that account there is work to do...
  • 2012 YTD weight avg:242, May avg:241
  • 2011 YTD weight avg: 246, May avg:246
  • 2010 YTD weight avg:237, May avg:233
  • 2009 YTD weight avg:235, May avg:235
  • 2008 YTD weight avg:237, May avg:236
    As of today at 238 pounds, I am 5 pounds heavier than my best May average weight -which was 233lb in 2010.
    Perhaps I can be in the low 230's by the "Ten Parks Tour"!?
    Contrast that with my average speed, -it's up! This year I am going faster (+1mph) than last year's YTD speed average. My average speed this past 16 days of May is over 13mph.
    I think I will see the peloton up ahead when I crest the hill...
  • 44 "C4" days
  • commuter miles YTD: 812.5+/-
    Total work commutes YTD through this ride:
  • 46 round trip work commutes (includes double round trip days);
