Ski Bummed and Lived in Crested Butte, CO in the late 70s and early 80s. Where I started riding an old 30 lb Schwinn Varsity that a friend had left behind when he had moved back to California.
In the Late seventies, "Bike" Guys I knew in Crested Butte, were building "Geared" old balloon tire bikes for off road using road bike components. At that time I thought it was a great Idea, but didn't get into it for myself till they came out with Production Mtn Bikes.
I started Riding Mtn Bikes in 1987 and did that 100% of the time.
Really got into Road at the tailend of 2001 when I was about to turn fifty and now do that about 75% of the time.
I've never raced on my Road Bike, have done some Mtn Bike races since 1999 and have done a couple of 24 Hour Team Races. I'm usually the oldest, but not always the slowest on the Team..... That's my story and I am sticking to it.
I'm a Graphic Designer/Cartoonist by Trade.....
