History:

Starting last summer (2011), I began to ride my bike after a few years off to get a job and build a house. I went the running route for a while, until my knee and feet started to bother me.

Not wanting to give up exercise, I dusted off the bike and began to ride near daily, finding great places to ride near my house.

At the end of the summer, when I had to go back to work teaching, I realized I was really going the distance, and riding to work each day was going to be no problem.

Description:  This bike is my change from 15 years of the same mountain bike. I realized into my first year of commuting to work and riding for fun, that I do not leave the pavement often. I was being passed by people I know I should at least be able to keep up with. This is my move into a new direction for fitness and journey.

Description:  September 20, 2012, I took my bike to REI to get everything fixed on it. After 14 years of riding the bike, there were a lot of components that were all used up. The chain was so stretched that it was off the charts of the chain tester. The rear cassette was toast. My back wheel was bent out of shape from a fall that also broke my elbow. The brakes were also done. All of that was fixed and now it is like a new bike. Old bike, new life, new odometer.

Lifetime Odometer: 743.8 miles
