I did a 75 mile charity ride when I was 15-years-old. After that I was hooked on the freedom and feeling of bike riding. I bought my first real bike in 1980 when I was 20 and stationed in Southern Calif. It was a 12-speed Schwinn; it weighed 25 pounds and was way too big for me. I've moved from steel to my carbon fiber Tarmac and down-tube shifters to STI shifting. Wow, isn't progress wonderful!

The business of life took away the bike riding urge until 6 years ago when my neighbor, Bob, and I got back into it. I'm loving it more than ever and try to get as much riding time while still balancing all the other responsibilities in my life. The Lord has blessed me with an incredible and understanding wife, who has started riding this year, and two wonderful daughters. May He keep you safe as you pedal along!

PS The photo is of me during the Crater Lake century. This was at the 40 mile mark. A wonderful ride except that it was 90 degrees and we had 7500 feet of climbing.
