I have been riding since 2002. In 2003 after being smitten by the cylcing bug I purchased my lifetime bike. The Roark custom titanium bike. www.roarkcycles.com
I now have ridden in charity rides, the Hilly Hundred, Ride Across Indiana in one day aka = RAIN 4x(160 miles), 2 sprint triathlons, RAGBRAI I and hope to someday ride across the USA. I am now 50 years young and loving life with my wife, 4 children, 2 dogs and my bike. Oh yeah, I also have a wonderful little bump on my left shoulder from crashing in 2006 and separating my shoulder.
Jan 08 had me starting rehab from knee surgery. (torn meniscus) Ran more than biked in 2007....back to the bike I go! 2009 had me riding more with friends and the miles were much more meaningful and enjoyable. Iron sharpens iron!
In 2010 I rode first RAGBRAI with a couple friends and had my first 1000 mile month in July 2010. Having a new trainer has helped keep me moving toward goal during winter months and busy life with 4 children.
Specialized Armadillo tires purchased at 8,500 miles. June 2010.
Ultegra rear cassette 9 speed and sram chain installed July 2010. 9100 miles.
June 2011 new ultegra chain installed at 12,000 miles.
Sept 2011 new tires @12,500 miles Vredestein Fortezza Special Edition Road Tire
2012 started using Campagnolo Ultra carbon wheels in spring with new ultegra 9speed cassette. MAY 2012...15,500 MILES on Roark.per bike journal.. new chain, new cleats on SIDI shoes.
July 16th purchased Trek Mamba 29er to ride with my son who has a Trek 29er. Looking forward to off road adventures with son :)
Purchased Shimano Ultegra PD-6700 Grey Road Pedals for Roark Road bike June 2013.
August 26, 2013 18,385 miles on Roark...new chain, bar wrap, tune up and end of Rolf wheels due to failure...on to Campagnolo Ultra Hyperons.
September 13, 2013 installed Continental GatorHardshell tires 18,675 miles on Roark.
June 15th, 2014 replaced chain at 21,500 mile mark. Shimano 105
October 2014 changed handelbar stem, handlebar and brake hoods/cables on Schwinn.
November 4th 2014 purchased Velocity A23 wheels with Shimano 105 hubs to use as training wheels at 22,691 mile mark on Roark.
June 16th 2015 changed to Brooks Swallow saddle on Roark Road bike at 23,900 mile mark. August 2015 added new continental grand prix 4000 s II to campy wheels for GOAT ride.
April 2016 I purchased a used Trek Madone road bike.
Sept 2016 new chain on Roark at 28,000 mark and I put new ISM Adamo saddle on Trek Madone.
Dec 2016 purchased Peloton Bike for family.
July 2017 replaced chain on Roark Shimano 9speed ultegra at 29,500 miles prior to RAGBRAI with my son Zach.
April 2025 I purchased Specialized Diverge Expert Carbon Gravel bike and raced 100k Dust Bowl race. |
