History:

bought a cheap mtn. bike in nov. 07 to commute to work (soaring fuel price and tired of being stuck in traffic). After a few trys (over the w.e.) in spring 08, decided to upgrade to a trek 7.2 fx. First day on a trek: shaved 20 min. from my commute time, arrived as fresh as if I had come with a car and I LIKED it.
I use a bike now even to go to pick up mail (a few yards away). I commute three days a week (the other two I have to go to a class quite far away) and over the w.e. I'm riding to prepare to run a century (km, not yet ready for 100 mi).

Road bike
Description:  my first road bike.
standard (53/39) and 10 speed cassette (11/23): tough on the legs
full ultegra
aggressive black
In Commute configurations it weights 9.250 kg (yes, 20lbs!).
I'm going to make it a little lighter: new look keo pedals, ultegra cassette (and chain) and vittoria tires will help (at least to go below 19.5).
Plan to get down to 17 lbs: ksyrium elite wheelset, new fork
Wife top tube impact induced crack on Feb. 12 2010
Last ride on feb. 10 returning commute, excellent ride through the sunset on east palomar.
