History:

First bike was a three speed with banana seat and giant sissy bar. The tires where probably 2 1/2" wide.
Owned various rebuilt low end 10 speeds since High School to bike to school or work off and on at times
Started commuting via bike more seriously in 2000. First used a 79 Schwinn until it was stolen.
Began purchasing hybrids starting with a Gary Fisher Triburon. Used the GF for many years until I was hit by a car from behind. Took three months to recover and the settlement in part replaced the GF with a TREK 7200.
Now, I haul my 26# bicycle with 14# of gear 16 miles to work ( then 16 miles back home ) twice a week minimum trying to do it in less than 1+10 hours.
Central Arkansas is luke warm to cyclists but our local club BACA ( Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas ) provides good vision and support to the bicycling community.
