I have been an athlete for most of my life. I competed in T&F and football in high school. During my undergraduate years, I continued to compete in T&F. My events were hammer and discus. I also used to do quite a bit of weight lifting. When I started Medical School, I took up cycling as a low impact alternative to running and weight lifting, but then I really got into it. I am currently beginning my internship year at an awesome hospital in Grand Rapids, MI and will be continuing my residency in Internal Medicine there as well. Residency hours do not allow me much spare time to ride as much as I want to, I still try to find time to get out and train. I am currently trying to move closer to the hospital so that I can ride my bike in every day to keep in shape. Save gas and get my exercise in for that day; now thats what I'm talking about. Over the next few years, I hope to continue to train and compete in several time trials, road races, and triathlons. Last summer, I also became a little more interested in mountain biking as well. Its a great way to break up road training and have a wild time as well. I built up a GT i-Drive Pro frame a year ago and just added some new upgrades this spring. Its getting warm out here in Michigan and I looks like a good time to get outside and start riding. |
