I picked up cycling in 2004 after a bad time with shin splints from running. I was looking at hybrid bikes for exercise just to alternate with my running. FYI, I don't really like runnin any more. The salesman talked me into the Trek 1000. I started riding in May 2004 and signed up for my first century for the following October.
I have participated in quite a few charity bike rides. Ride for the Roses in Austin (2004 - 7:25, 2005-5:56), MS150, Bike to the Beach, San Antonio to Corpus Christi (2005 90 miles-4:45 and 60 miles-3:10)... I am now stationed in Italy and trying to get in more riding time. I am a first sergeant in the USAF and unfortunately it impacts my riding time a lot. I am BACK from a tour in Iraq... Glad to be on my NEW bike. :)
2008 was not a good riding year for me. Very busy job and working on my degree kept me off the road. I completed my degree and it is now time to hit the road. Hopefully 2009 will be a great year! |
