I am a wife of a firefighter, and I am a volunteer firefighter. We have two daughters, and I am a public school teacher.
I was that kid whom nobody, not even best friends, wanted to pick for teams of any sport. The only thing close to athletics that I did was barrel-racing horses since the age of 7 and marching in band. I started riding at the age of 45 quite accidently. My husband had been riding a Trek for a few months and had talked our 13 year old daughter into riding her Mongoose bike with him for 15 miles in a local bike ride. The day before the ride, she realized she had prior engagements and backed out. In a moment of insanity, I agreed to take her place and ride her Walmart mountain bike, even though I had not ridden at all for many years. Well, I made it, and the rest is history. Two Treks later, I am hooked! I'm still quite slow but determination keeps me striving and the love of the sport keeps me riding. Oh, and I've lost 30 pounds by eating healthier and riding my bike! I hope my bio encourages and inspires others. |
