BwB is back. Looking for interesting tete-a-tetes among cyclists that cross train. Those of you that are satisfied with pencil arms should stay away. (To clarify - you can have little thin pencil arms, but you can't be satisfied with them.) Two requirements - an affection for staying in more than just cycling shape and at least an occasional eruption of wit. Let's get this club going again. Woohoo!!

Did you say Phoenix?

I live in Phoenix!

Does that mean I should post on this thread?

JulieB - with the sarcasm and wit displayed above you would be a natural for this thread.

I don't know if I'll ride today. This is a lifting night and I can't decide whether it's more important to stick with my lifting routine or to try and get as many rides in as I can for this time of year. I did get a new bike this weekend so ......... hmmmm. I guess I'll ride.

Sigh. I did real good lifting twice a week all year long until mid August when I went on vacation and got out of my routine. Haven't lifted since. I suppose I could use this for motivation. If nothing else, it was nice to see some old faces show up in this thread. Not that I'm calling JulieB old or anything like that. I'll leave that to someone else.

SafariCat - Yes,yes, yes -that's exactly what we use this thread for. Go and hit the gym this weak. I know what it's like after you've been off for awhile. You dread going back and feeling week because the weights are going to be light. Get over it and let us know how good if feels the next day to have started back into lifting again. We'll be waiting to hear.

I will most likely join in the festivities of this thread as I usually do some weight training to go along with my swimming. I normally start sometime in October and swim and weight train from October through to April after which, it's all bike riding. I have not swam or touched weights since April and as such my upper body as atrophied as you can clearly see by the pic below.

Well GeeWizMan (or GWM from now on) I've seen worse arms and you're still in the upper tier of cyclists arms. I have to admit the strategic use of shading adds a wonderful ambience to the quality of the picture of your biceps. Glad to hear that this thread may help to motivate you. Let us know how your next visit to the gym goes. And let's not completely rule out winter riding.

Well, I had a bit of a workout Saturday.

I was getting a new phone. I'm now on my fourth phone this semester. It's getting old.

So, instead of sitting quietly like a good little customer, I stood up and did wall pushups for a while. When that got old, I did desk pushups for a while. When that got old, I did bench pushups for a while.

Today I can't move.

Way to feel the burn JB. Not quite sure how the phone relates to everything else, but that's OK. You took the first step and now you can start lording your biceps over the other cyclists you pass on the road.

Hey Dubya,

The only lifting I've been doing for the past year is picking up and carrying three granddaughters and one grandson. Oh, and numerous barleypops.

Yes, it's true, I've become a girlieman as I've not done any push-ups, chin-ups, or bench presses in the past year.

I still ride my bike three or four times a week, and I run 5Ks or longer three times a week as well. So I am a true T-rex -- gigantic muscled legs holding up a scrawny torso and tiny stubby arms. ... My mouth is still as big as ever, of course.

Or better yet, this photo would describe me now, only chubbier...

Any questions?
