Welcome to the 2020 Fifty Mile Challenge. Also the Metric challenge because I'm too lazy to set it up.
Join at any time. Let me know if your name isn't in the spreadsheet and I'll add you in.

A fifty plus ride is a ride that meets the following:
1. A ride of 50.0 miles or more in any one day or a combination of several rides in one day.
2. Only one fifty per day may be counted.
3. Rides of longer distances that qualify for other challenges may also be posted here.
4. Rides posted in this challenge may be posted in other challenges as well, but must conform to their rules.

A Metric ride is 62.137 miles, although I just set it to 62.1 in the formula. When you enter your ride miles, it will automatically count fifty's and metrics.

I may add some more statistics at the bottom if we want to track metric stats separately.

Although not required, please include:
5. Type of ride; Road (included paved bike trails,) Mountain, Rollers, Trainer, etc.
Pictures would be nice as well!

Thanks to Markiansj, SloJoe, and tojesky who hosted this challenge before.

As you can see, I've changed this to a self posting thread, but if you have a tablet or phone, and can't post, just post your ride and ask someone to enter it for you, its not hard.

Previous Years:

2019 Fifty Mile Challenge

2018 Fifty Mile Challenge

2017 Fifty Mile Challenge

2016 Fifty Mile Challenge

2015 Fifty Mile Challenge

2014 Fifty Mile Challenge

Road Ride
52.10 Miles
03:25:24 moving time
03:32:00 total elapsed time
15.22 mph average speed
1787 feet of climbing
Waking heart rate = 48, Average Heart Rate = 129 which is 73.7% of my theoretical max.

Ride notables:
I went out with the idea of doing fifty miles, but I didn't have a route in mind. So, I winged it and made up the route as I rode along.

The only other item worthy of noting is that I saw the largest wild boar, I have ever seen, on the edge of the road as in fresh road kill. The car was still there and it looked totaled.

#01 (the New Year stats reset is always depressing)

ROAD
Jan 01
56.0 miles
3:52 ride time
14.4 mph avg speed
2811 feet of climbing

Silk Sheets
Elapsed Time 4:06

Mid-day start, with Risa (she ran in the morning). Low 50's. Arm and knee warmers, fingered gloves, skullcap, long-sleeved jersey.

Felt overdressed almost immediately. Arm warmers came off first, then swapped the skullcap for a sweatband. Finally removed the knee warmers.

No idea where I was (well, vaguely southwest of Atlanta), so I just followed along.

Still low 50's at the end.

Thanks for keeping this going, hairykiwi!

Lets try 26 for me. Now that I am gravel bike riding I am not doing as many long rides like I did when I was doing roadie riding.

Was the wild boar trying to chew it's tires out? I didn't know that you live in wild boar country GWM. I even forget where that is.
