 Swamp ROMP
I got the newly built up Trek out for it's maiden ride today. I have been very sick for two weeks and wondered how much I had in the tank to ride today. I took off from home early in the morning to ride to the Cafe and meet the group. I ran into Lynn along the way and I stopped and then rode on to the Cafe with him. We pulled in and Cat was there. Joe F showed up, then James,Seneca, and Joe Y. James took his bike to the shop for some work andwe waited a long time for him. We took off up the trail. We regrouped several times along the way. We picked up Brad and Kitty at Furman. From there we rode on to TR then split up to ride to the end of the trail or not. I rode on to the end, then Cat arrived and Joe F. We headed back to TR and picked up the rest of the group.

Once we were in TR I ran into Ken. He was out early and met us to go for a bite to eat. We rode back to the Cafe with several stops to regroup. There was a lot of interesting conversation along the way about a lot of subjects. At Furman Brad and Kitty left to drive into town at Barley's, Senaca left at the Cafe to drive to town, while the rest of us rode on down the trail. We gathered at Barley's where the drivers had a group of tables together. We ordered our drinks (lemonade and water for me) then our meals. I had a bowl of chili soup. There were a lot of conversations around the table. Joe F is very opinionaed and has a funny look on things. Ken is a retired engineer with Milikin while Seneca is an engineer with Proterra. Lynn and Joe Y are smart and funny guys with differing views. Cat has interesting views and brings a fresh point to our conversations. This is my first time interacting with Brad and Kitty and they were fun to talk to as well. We have a lot of good conversations with many differeing viewpoints, but they are always friendly. After we left Barley's Ken and the group wanted to ride through the new protected bike lane that had been set up downtown. Ken cut off after that and we headed back to the Cafe. At Hudson Street I turned to go to TTR to adjust the rear derailluer and had Cis pick me up there. I had put in almost 30 miles and the temps were into the 90s and I was done. I also spoke with them at TTR about how to make the Trek fit me a little better.
