| Weather Conditions: Windy, grey, 64°. Chilly in spots. Pushed the sleeves of my jacket up as I was climbing Yangminshan via Peitou. Pushed them down as soon as I reached the top. My ears were covered by a newly purchased balaclava-like thingy, and a short sleeve jersey, yellow jacket, shorts and light jersey pants, plus long fingered gloves made up the rest of my ensemble. |
| Ride Description: Hill work today...well, a little hill work. Headed out past the National Palace Museum to the bridge where the racers met last year, then went up from there just a wee bit. Bailed because it was spitting rain and the roads were wet. I'm a chicken with wet hilly downhills. Decided to head to Four Corners via Peitou, so that was another nice hill. Went down Cherry Hill, then went back out past the National Palace...not for more hills, but for munchies at the biker-hangout 7 Eleven. After that I was going to go out on the bike path but decided to stick to the roads...WenLin, etc. Boy, big mistake. I needed some intensive anger management because the idjit drivers had come out in full force. They were everywhere, doing everything in their power to bother me and the other million people who were out. At one point drivers of three scooters who were stopped at a traffic light (as was I) were throttling them to get into the intersection even though the light was very red. I said, probably too loudly,"When the light is green, then you can go." Four heads swiveled to see who would dare question their bad driving ettiquette. I then said,"Zao," which is Mandarin for good morning. Hmmm, not one of them said the greeting back to me, which they usually do. Dare I say my attitude toward Taiwan is once again waning? Now I have to go pray and ask for forgiveness for my attitude and my foul language. |
