Weather Conditions: I had wind...heavy head winds, insane cross winds, and a few tailwinds. I had sun. I had gray sky. I had blue sky. I had clouds. I had rain. What more can anybody want? Oh yeah, I wore a light windbreaker the entire ride. |
Ride Description: Whoo boy, what a day to choose to do a metric. Why? Was it windy? Windy, you ask? By far one of the worst days for wind ever in Taiwan. But I digress. The bike took me first to Four Corners via Cherry Hill and down Peitou. Tough climb. Then the bike decided I should go out past the National Palace Museum. Saw some of the boys on their way to the hill climb race. Bill invited me to join in, I just laughed. Headed uphill, just past Flying Squirrel Bridge, then back down. Then the darn bike wanted to go up again, so I climbed just to the intersection before the shrimp ponds...not a bad climb. Had some good raindrops falling on my head, but decided not to go in, so I did the River Loop, stopped at the convenience store for a snack, then back to Guandu...the road that runs parallel to the bike path...twice...then home, finally. Fought the wind. Was glad at one point I had no food in my stomach...the violent dry heaves were bad enough. This was a hard metric...but one of the most gratifying. |
