 Kenís Sunday Ride
Today I drove to Cleveland Park for Kenís Sunday ride. Nine of us met at the zoo parking lot to ride - Ken, Steve S, Don Y, Don and Elissa H, Nina, two men that I did not know, and me. We left the lot and one guy just disappeared. We never did figure out what happened to him. Even though the detour from the big dig is reopened, Ken likes the path around the dog patch so we continued that ride. While we were winding our way through the park, I could see that Nina was getting separated so I passed a few riders and got back with her. She has no problem keeping up, but she is very forgetful so I try to stay close to her. The parks were very full, so we were threading our way through foot traffic in Cleveland Park, the Cancer Survivorís Center, Falls Park, West End Park, Linky Stone Park, and out past the Swamp Rabbit Cafe. Then the ride settled down until we turned into Furman. The group was pulling away from Nina and me, but we rode around the lake and got back on the trail on our own. I thought the rest of the group was ahead of us, but after a mile I saw Steve S then Don Y catching us. Then I saw Ken and others behind us. We turned around across from Sunrift Outfitters and stopped at the Treehouse. I had a decaf and a blueberry muffin and we talked for a long time. Don Y had a card from Lynda that rides with us. Lynda is visiting her mother in England to celebrate her 100th birthday. She sent a card of a WW 1 poster advertising for bicyclists for the army and wrote a letter about her activities over there. The ride back down the trail had the group separate several times, but I stayed with Nina. Don and Elissa split off at Washington Street, while the rest of us headed back to Cleveland Park.
