 Touring Kueka Lake
A great ride around Kueka Lake today. BruceW and I drove out to Branchport where we started our tour, which took in some elevation and scenic overlooks. Kueka Lake is the friendliest most picturesque of all the Finger Lakes.

As we were setting up for the ride, at the point where we parked in the Branchport Free Library parking area, a couple from Ontario Canada pulled in to the parking area with bikes on their car rack. The smiling enthusiastic, friendly Canadian couple were looking for a shorter ride than we were about to embark upon. Bruce helped the two orient themselves, showing them map locations and potential short bike rides with points of interest. They accompanied us to two nearby scenic areas including the climb up to Château Esperanza overlook. They ventured back West from there as Bruce and me went East to Penn Yan. At 11:30 Bruce wanted a short food break, we stopped at "Micky Dees" in Penn Yan.

Our ride went perfectly. Bruce leading the way, we made several miles along the Eastern shoreline on cottage roads including Lower East Lake Road, Kueka Village Road, and Hines Road all off the main Route54 roadway. The lower ride was somewhat hilly with some short steep climbs. The ride through Hammondsport and back to Branchport on route 54a was also picturesque and with the assistance of the Southerly breeze made for easy effort on the final leg of the ride.

Upon returning to the truck 4+ hours later, the Canadian couple was there loading their bikes and preparing to head off elsewhere. They had spent their time touring spots along Route 54a.
