Smoking -is it Homeopathic Blood Doping?
I'm asking a serious question here.

The point of blood doping is to increase the RBC (red blood cell) count. Typical methods of Blood Doping are illegal in athletic competitions. But I have read about "Holistic" methods of RBC count enhancement through high Altitude acclimation for instance. Having a basic understanding of the nature of smoking and its effect on RBC counts has me wondering if smoking could be another form of blood doping.

There is potential danger involved with elevated RBC counts.

for one, Red Blood Cells can increase Blood viscosity. Additionally there are a multitude of health issues related to smoking.

But if smoking only involves second hand exposure or recreational smoking... What about Pot Smokers? Aren't those types of smoking exposure, such as in hanging out at a parties, campfires, concerts, poker nights, etc., causing elevated RBC counts?
