Had one last day in Virginia and I took a short ride again out of Freedom Park. Would be returning to north of the interstate but not going as far or as deep as the other day. Picked a course off the internet that covered some roads I hadn't done before. Today's ride started out going out through the road entrance rather than the trail through the gully. Saw a woman prepping for a ride as I left the park but she passed me as I waited at a light and then went to the right. My course went to the left. Also saw a male rider going through the light as I waited and he was going my direction. By the time the light turned he was out of sight so didn't bother to chase and just rolled out at a comfortable pace. Had to pass through the Cameron Mills gully before doing a loop and returning through the gully, so I would get at least a couple short steep climbs in if there wasn't any hills provided ahead. Turned out there were some more short hills and pleasant riding on narrow canopy covered roads as soon as I got above the highway. Really great riding though again not very much of the more challenging stuff. After climbs and descending through the woods for a bit I passed back into the housing development zone again west of Williamsburg. This one had quite a bit of activity but appeared to be still in the grading phase and wasn't able to see any houses going up. Had to ride along the side of the interstate for a bit on a small road that really had a poor surface which was unusual for the area. Also had to go on a four lane for a mile or so to get over one of the few bridges in the area. Once south of I-64 again had a couple more miles of rolling grades through farmland before backtracking through the Cameron Mills gully once more. The course finished on a paved bike trail through the park that provided another short steep twisting climb to finish off the ride. Had another good day of exploration that was very enjoyable. Temperature was close to the nineties but while still humid wasn't as wet as yesterday.
