Took most of the week off trying to rest my legs and ditch my cold with only a couple of short rides on the trainer. Legs got rested but can't shake the cold. Saying used to be three days or three weeks and think I'm in for the latter. Finally convinced myself to ride outdoors again. Opted for the mountain bike as couldn't quite convince myself to take out the road bike in fifty degrees with high winds, high humidity, and a nasty north wind. So headed off into the wind but worked my way to the Bird Trail that weaves through the woods abutting the swamp. Trail was dry and it appears to have been well maintained over the summer as all the deadfall has been removed and didn't have to dismount today. Usually a blast to ride trail and today was no exception. Once through the woods rode along the maintenance road for the new sewer line along the canal to Watkins. Wind was whipping off the lake but only had a half mile or so of highway before returning home on Rock Cabin. That gravel road is maintained for the power lines that run along the swamp. It usually washes out a couple times during the year and is not maintained in the winter, but it was in fair shape today. Felt kind of guilty only riding ten miles but at least I got out.
