Decided to try the Dundee ride again with the goal of pushing the pace for an hour and try for a fifteen. Same course as last time up SR 14 & 14A to Reading Center. Difference from last time was direction of the wind. Although rather gusty it was mostly crosswind except for the second half of the first climb. Tried and failed again to keep the pace above ten on the first half of the climb but got farther than normal before failing. Had to pass a state truck spraying tar on road cracks on the second half. Fortunately, the flagman let me pass without stopping on the steep climb. Got to Reading Center at twelve and a half that is workable time in my goal for the fifteen in an hour. Couldn't get the speed up where I needed it to be up the slight grade after Reading and was only able to get a fourteen before the time ran out. I was finally able to get the average up to fifteen on the downhill to Dundee. Had a good climb with the tailwind over the ridge to Lakemont. Ran out of leg coming back over the lake on SR 14. Had hopes of a seventeen at one point but dialed it down to a sixteen six. After hitting the lights poorly in Watkins, the game was over and had to settle for a disappointing time. Climbing is slowly improving and is hovering between poor and mediocre. Running out of leg quite often now but numbers are going up with the VOX-max slowing improving. If I can stay healthy for another two or three weeks might have my numbers back to where they were in April.
