Today was a travel day as heading back to NY for a race on Saturday that was postponed due to rain earlier in the month. Stopped again in Charles City and rode the more scenic course of the two thirty-mile rides. Rode at a relaxed pace over the gentle rolling terrain again marveling at the oceans of corn along the route. Last time I rode the course I remembered it being hillier but today with the slow pace it seemed quite flat. Three first five miles is up a rise but there is only one rated climb according to my computer, though I often question the wisdom of my computer nanny. Corn is high, the trees are heavy with leaves, and the brush is thick alongside the road. The cooler temperature today made for pleasant summer cycling. The final third of the course goes briefly onto the rail trail a couple of times but didn't see many riders out today. Took it easy on the ride but got a long drive home.
