Third trip around the lake this year. A bit cooler than last week with more favorable winds. Plan again was for a long slow ride with the same two bonus climbs as last week. Had a sweet tailwind for the first climb to Reading Center and made good time on the downhill to Rock Steam. Decided to pass on the gravel seasonal maintained road this week and dropped down to SR 14 until Glenora. Legs felt good and kept a slightly faster pace than last week. First climb wasn't very impressive and had to keep a fast pace for a few miles to get to my target average of fifteen before continuing at a more relaxed pace. Saw a few riders out today starting with two in Himrod. Didn't cross paths with anyone else circumnavigating Seneca today. Lost my tailwind by Dresden and picked up a cross wind most of the way to Geneva, although it shifted again to the south while I was on the north end of the lake. Decided to ride the canal trail again as the wind was supposed to shift to the north in the afternoon. A handful of miles on the wooded trail would hopefully kill some time until the wind shifted again. Saw a half dozen riders on the trail. Seems with the cooler temps more people are out on their bikes. Didn't get the promised tailwind when I turned south in Waterloo but at least it wasn't still out of the south. Stopped for McLunch again in Ovid after climbing several miles on the long steady grade. After lunch finally got my tailwind that carried me home. Legs weren't nearly as tired this week and made a good effort on the climb out of Valois and didn't really suffer as much on the final climb up Tug Hill. Finished it off with a blast down Skyline. With the help of the winds, it was fairly easy to score a fifteen plus today. Probably could have bested sixteen if I had foregone the Canal trail, but the trail is quite enjoyable to ride.
