Legs were pretty shelled yesterday so just spun a few miles indoors on the trainer. Another day of avoiding any distance or major climbing. Repeated the Fitzpatrick-Middle Road course with twenty two miles of gradual climbing and a fast downhill. I had already ridden it earlier in the week with lackluster results. Today though was a little different with the wind again out of the north. It was up the valley once more and spun fairly well aided by a tailwind. I was able to reach Horseheads at a sixteen average. Headed over to Middle Road to again try the rolling ascent. Had seven miles to the top of the climb and set the goal of of only losing a two tenths of a mile an hour for each mile I traveled. I was certain that if I could do that I would be able to bring the average back above fifteen easily on the fast downhill. Lost the said amount over the first mile but was able to get some good speed on the flatter sections and after that limited my losses to a tenth per mile after that. Legs were suffering up the last mile but was able to get to the top over fifteen. Barring a crash or a flat tire the fifteen average was in the bag. Finished with a sixteen and was quite satisfied with the ride. Still not riding very well but easily beat my milestone and had beaten my last attempt a mile an half faster.
