Spent a couple hours on the trainer in the morning but decided that since the sun broke through the clouds and warmed it up into the fifties a short afternoon ride would be a good idea-especially after taking yesterday off due to sloth. Didn't want to get too fancy as legs were a bit taxed from the morning session but did want to get out and do a decent climb. Opted for the Dug Road that is a two-mile climb with the first mile averaging eleven percent and the second around six. Planned on just riding steady with no accelerations and that is exactly what I did, though I really didn't have any other option. Chugged along at five or six miles an hour over the first mile flagging a little when grade hit thirteen percent. Usually, I am able to make good time on the second half but didn't make much of an effort and just finished it off. Rest of the ride was just gentle grade to Johnson Hollow where I continued out onto the highway and descended into Watkins. Didn't even get much speed on the downhill and wondered whether the high humidity was slowing me down by pushing through the heavy air. Assume the barometric pressure has some effect but not sure how much. Thought briefly about doing another climb but decided against it as may have an opportunity for riding outside tomorrow depending on how long tonight's rain stays in the area.
