 A Second Spring Day
Temperatures were predicted to be in the sixties although the forecast had all but three hours calling for rain showers. I tried to fit my ride into the three hour window but was hampered by the window bouncing around in the forecast. I went old school and actually went outside to see what was happening and decided it looked pretty decent and I would head out a couple of hours before the optimum window was scheduled. Went with the traditional twenty mile Monday ride up Johnson Hollow. Didn't plan on doing much as had a hard day on the computrainer yesterday and so went out with the intention of some easy spinning. The first seven miles upgrade into a headwind wasn't very pleasant but and the legs were a little heavier than I really liked and didn't do much easy spinning. I was glad I wore leg warmers as despite the near sixty weather it was still rather cool in the wind. Spun up the short climb without too much trouble or speed and started to feel better once I was in the crosswind. Enjoyed my slower speed and lack of effort by listening to the peepers and checking out the tapping of the maple trees along the road. Felt fairly decent on the downhill section with a tailwind on the finishing section. Only had a couple of bouts of spitting rain during the main part of the ride and could feel the warmth of the sun despite the cloud cover. Lucked out overall as there was a quick cloudburst as I rolled my bike through my front door. The next week looks like rain forecast every day and temperatures bouncing between thirties and fifties. So it looks like another week on the computrainer or lifting weights.
