The Annual RoS -and a senior moment

Bob Davis and I have participated in this ride together almost every year. Funny (thankfully) story related to this year's event starts with my wife Ginny being worried about me losing my wallet while pedalling. Back in the days when I pedalled recumbents, this was a qualified concern! Especially considering the time my truck and house keys slipped out of my pocket on the way home from work in Hilton, discovered the loss after pedalling home...

So yesterday, as I was going out the door to meet up with Bob for this 2026 RoS event, Ginny yelled out that I should wear different pants or I could lose my wallet. (Losing my wallet is not a likely event, owing to my pant pocket depth, and the upright style of non-recumbent cycling). So I told Gin-gin not to be concerned, and anyway, who leaves home without first checking to know their wallet is in a secure place?

At 5:45 pm, I met Bob in the Asbury parking lot, greeting him like the old friend he has become. We both began unloading our e-bikes. Bob's got a decent carrier holding his bike, my bike is crammed into the back of my Forester, and it was a bear to wedge it in for the transport over to Asbury.

Bikes got powered up, and off we headed downtown to Liberty Pole Way. Shortly after arriving at the RoS starting point, Bob realizes he doesn't have his wallet in his pocket where he expected it to be... Concerned he may have dropped his wallet somewhere along the way, Bob headed back to the parking lot(about 3.5 miles round trip). Looking for his wallet along the way, it was nowhere to be seen...

Arriving back at the Liberty Pole for the ceremonies associated with the RoS, Bob ruminates, thinking his wallet could have been picked up by someone and turned in to lost and found at the Asbury church. Or, maybe... he dropped it on the ground at home? Bob calls Marcia and asks her to look out in the yard... the wallet could not be found!

Bob does the whole Ride of Silence in quiet contemplation. Finally, back at the Asbury parking lot, at the ride's end, he calls Marcia (time to catch hell). In a quiet desperation, he suggests that Marcia look in his favorite den rest spot (his recliner) -and there was his wallet safe and sound!
I think he owes Marcia a reward!
