Planned on doing at least one hill but can't seem to get motivated and opted for a mostly rolling course. Decided to do the course I did with Joe a little while ago and see if I have improved any. There was one major difference though as the wind was in the opposite direction, as it was from the south today and not nearly as nasty as the north wind Joe and I faced. Started out fairly well going up the valley but couldn't seem to get a good flow going and suffered along in the low teens as I was beaten by the headwind. Took nearly an hour to cover the twelve miles to Horseheads before I could turn back and catch a tailwind up the Middle Road. There was still seven or eight miles of rolling climbs and I hoped to make up some lost time. It wasn't to be though as I am not strong enough yet to roll over the tops of the climbs with any momentum and found myself grinding over them rather than powering over them. Did a fair amount of suffering today and failed to match the last attempt of this course. Last couple miles is screaming decent so the ride wasn't all without fun. Legs are tired and it was probably for the best that I avoided climbing today.
