Ran out of gas in the legs yesterday so opted for another medium slow ride today. It was a bit cooler than last week with a north wind and temperatures in the upper eighties. Hoped to get a boost up the valley to Millport from the wind, but it really didn't show up until I was in Pine Valley. Failed to get a fifteen by Johnson Hollow even though I was not really riding hard and trying just to spin off some calories still figured I should be going faster. Legs felt heavy and was only in the mid thirteens. Did a little better on the step climbs to the hump in Pine Valley and at that point the legs came alive. Was able to fairly easily up the average to over fourteen by Horseheads and fifteen by the park. Caught quite a few lights green and wind was good most of the way. Didn't stop at the park today and just did aa low speed pass and then headed for Lake St and the return trip home. Wind was most unfriendly and legs were a bit worn and again had about the same average speed going back down the slot as up. Not much happened on the return leg besides the sky and even the air turning sepia colored. Looked like I was riding into an old photograph. Figured either the Gates of Hell had opened, somebody set off a nuke, or Canada was on fire again. Got home and saw there was an air advisory, but it didn't say why. Didn't find out for a few hours later that it was Canada again. Guess that was probably the best case of three options. Probably sucked in more ash than is healthy, but hopefully burned off some fat.
