I started cycle commuting 25 years ago as a poor grad student in Boston. In 2003 I started club riding to train for an MS150. In 2004 I did a tour in Chiapis Mexico where we rode from San Cristobal to the border of Guatemala. In 2005 I did a tour along the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain. At the moment, touring and club riding are my cycling passions. I also enjoy spinervals for general fitness when I can't get outdoors to ride.

Road bike
Description:  RHEA: 48cm 2008 Cervelo RS. Rhea is equipped with a custom crank set from High Sierra Cycling, a 3T ergonova team carbon bar, a Look ergopost 2, a Brooks Finesse saddle, Easton Circuit wheels, and a full Dura-Ace 10 build.

While all my bikes are named after goddesses, I struggled with this one. At first she felt male, but then I decided she is a strong female so she needed to be the strongest of all the female godesses. Rhea fit the bill. She was the daughter of Gaia (earth) and Uransu (sky), wife of Chronus (time) and mother of Zeus.

Road bike
Description:  FERONIA: The bike was first built in Dec. 2006. I aquired the frame, reynolds 853 steel, never been built for a song on ebay. Then I sent her to a framebuilder (Bilenky) to have S&S couplers installed, canti bosses, and a fork built. She is outfitted exactly like my titanium Isis, except she takes tires from 23-32c and packs in an airline legal suitcase. She is currently equipped with a custom equalizer crank set from High Sierra Cycling Center (50/34 elliptical w dropped pedal), Deore XT 11-34, Nitto noodle handlebar, Nitto technomic stem, Speedplay frog pedals, Brooks Finesse saddle, durace/XTR chain. Her go fast wheels have 105 hubs and 23c schwalbe stelvio tires, while her touring wheelset has 32c panaracer pasela tourguard/terry tellus tires (both wheelsets serviced in 12/2006-1/2007).
