Did a medium length ride with a couple of climbs. Headed out to Dundee via the SR 14 & SR 14A climb. Did fairly well on the climb thanks to a recent loss of weight rather than an increase of watts or effort. Tried to capitalize on a fair initial climb to get the average up to fifteen in the first hour of riding but was hampered a bit by a headwind once through Reading Center. Got up to fourteen and had my fifteen after the long decent to Dundee. Second climb was up Chubb Hollow with a long approaching grade and a quarter mile ten percent kicker at the high point. Didn't do much on the climb hopefully saving my legs for a fast tailwind assisted return home. Had good speed to Himrod and had the average up to sixteen as I started climbing the grade out. Things went bad somewhere between Himrod and Glenora as my back side started to burn on the saddle. Pain gradually increased and became almost unbearable after a few miles. Again, had to stand up to keep moving forward with eight or nine miles to go. Speed dropped rapidly as I went into survival mode and thought seriously about calling for a ride home. Kept going helped by the long decent into Watkins. Got home and found I had damaged my backside resulting in slightly bloody shorts. Not a good day on the bike and it might be a bit before I dare to get back on the road.
