Another short day with a couple of climbs. Tried adding a layer to protect my damaged backside. A warm day with a slight south wind and a good chance of catching a shower. Headed up Old Odessa and didn't fly up it but was fast enough to theoretically crest the first rise close to ten. Bridge is still out and probably won't be back this season. Caught a slight tailwind on the second half of the climb on SR 228 to Smith Valley. Didn't set any records but spun well and tried to climb steady. Got to the top a little over ten so didn't really gain much on with the second effort. Tried to push the big gear on the new pavement to Mecklenberg and get the average above fourteen that seemed likely. Hit a bit of a snag when I rode through a heavy shower. Hit the lock screen button on my computer quick enough to prevent the mystery screen changes. Showers lasted three or four miles but didn't slow me too much and got to Mecklenberg at fourteen five. Last time on this course I died on the SR 79 S climb toward Bennentsberg. Today was a bit better but still wasn't a very good climb. Good excuse would be the headwind I encountered but most likely just not in very good shape. Was hoping to break sixteen but couldn't get the speed I needed on the smaller secondary climbs. Hit some traffic on the downhill on Skyline that didn't help much. Not a bad ride though really burned out after the first hour. Good news was the saddle sore wasn't much of an issue today that was encouraging as have a metric century coming up on Saturday.
