Last day in Williamsburg before completing the first stage of my southern tour after a metric tomorrow then heading back to New York. Took it easy today with a short course with some good rolling hills. Started yet again in Freedom Park leaving through the road entrance before going through the Cameron Mills gulch and heading north to the climbs on the far side of I-64. After the gulch the terrain is flat for a couple miles passing over a dam and reservoir that wasn't too bad despite a headwind. Had a good time on the wooded climbs and got to some climbs through the housing development construction. They still aren't building house as they are now installing a storm drain system. The I-64 construction also caused a detour on today's course as the road was closed after completing the climbing section and had to backtrack to a detour. So got some bonus climbing in but lost a couple miles as I found myself riding hard again on the highway. Traffic was heavy and the shoulder was thin so tried to minimize my time on it by stomping on the pedals. Rode back across the reservoir thru the gulch and the park trail to finish off the ride. Ended up with detours three days in a row but riding was still fine.
