Numbers were marginal and plan on traveling tomorrow so decided on a fairly easy ride. Headed up the valley into the wind to do Sullivinville backwards avoiding the two early climbs and swapping them for a twenty-two mile steady upgrade with a little kicker at the high point. Had fair legs for the first few miles making the base of Johnson Hollow at fourteen-six. Tried for a fifteen but lost it over the last two miles as just couldn't hold the speed. Not too bad for old legs in a headwind. Got over the two humps to Pine Valley in good shape and picked up the average as the terrain flattens mostly to Horseheads. Got through the traffic circle on SR 13 and started climbing again with the average in the mid-fifteens. Was hoping for some tailwind assisted speed on the six mile upgrade but again didn't have the legs. Lost focus on the climb and just finished it off. Recovered the average on the downhill to Alpine Junction but hit a slight headwind going to Odessa on SR 224. Got a bad feeling about descending the last hill to Montour on SR 224 and although it was a totally unreasonable fear opted to descend Havana Glen instead. Made a slow safe descent down the mid-teen grade by riding the brakes that didn't help the average much. Got home safely with an occasional pleasant ride.
