Today was another travel day so just took another relaxed ride in the state parks and another section of the A1A. Started out at a small park in the forest and headed north along the John Anderson Hwy until reaching SR 100 and crossing the bridge into Flagler Beach. After that it was catch a tailwind down the A1A again. Pretty good bike lane and\or shoulder heading south but did notice that the dunes had reclaimed the lane occasionally on the north bound side. Still saw cyclists riding on it but they had to ride in the road. Stayed on the route until reaching Ormond Beach and got off the highway onto a side street as traffic got heavier. Did the second climb of the day crossing the Halifax River on Route 40. It was back into the wind again on a long flat straight through a residential area. Passed the time seeing how long I could see cars that passed me. My eye site usually failed before the cars made a turn. Ride improved once I was back into the park. The warmer temperatures appeared to make the wildlife more active. Saw a large snapping turtle and some wading birds and a few buzzards. Disappointed I didn't see any long lines of pelicans this year. They used to fly in long straight lines along the beach. Not sure if they are drafting or not. Legs were tired today and glad for the short length of the route. Heading further south for a century this weekend.
