Returned to the Great White North without getting a ride in due to a combination of laziness and traffic detours and delays. Took a couple days off to recover from the driving and added on another couple of pounds. Finally decided I couldn't keep up the slothfulness and went out for a brief ride on the mountain bike. Road bike is mostly retired for the year and will concentrate on the trainer and weight training with an occasional foray outside on the fat bike or mountain bike. Got started late today and it was a race to get done before the sun sets behind the hill. Legs felt pretty good and took a spin through the bird trail and the swamp returning again on Rock Cabin. Thought I might encounter some deer hunters today on the trail as there were a couple of trucks in the parking lot. Didn't see any orange though so they were deep in the swamp or camouflaged bow hunters. Added a bit of a thrill negotiating the trail while expecting to have to take evasive action if someone was on the trail. Leaves have all fallen now but the brush along the Bird Trail is still thick enough to block vision. Did have to dodge a flock of Canadian geese along the trail through the swamp, and it was a good indication that winter isn't going to get too harsh right away. Rock Cabin surface is still degrading and there were quite a few potholes and rocks to steer through. Short, sweet ride that was fun but probably helped mentally but didn't do much for the physic.
