~The afternoon commute was a there-and-back via Ridge-Trimmer-Spencer-Hill ride; Starting and finishing at the JP Auto repair (Joes); Some work was needed on the Volvo. $150 combination new battery and brake line bleed.
Arriving home, Ginny informed me that Bicycle Outfitters had left a message "the Bianchi was finished". All new Tiagra components except for a "Sora" Left Brifter, have converted the original 9 speed Castro Valley Commuter to a 27 speed Touring/Commuter.
Cost of the upgrade was a bit steep at $534.38 with tax and labor. The left "Sora shifter" was cheaper than Tiagra but still $100. The Tiagra crankset was $125 plus another $35 for the bottom bracket. Adding the front derailler and a triple crankset was the point here. Needing the new Rear derailler was mandatory for proper chain tension when in the small ring. Understanding that retail components build-in a good profit margin, labor was only $60 additional. The work by Shawn was excellent.
When I got the bike home I changed the rear wheel over to the new Vuelta HD and one of the tires I bought from Bruce. All in all the bike was a pricey upgrade and in total it was a pricey day!
Looking forward to faster commutes starting tomorrow!
Perhaps needless to say: I could not interest Ginny this time around with a new Raleigh commuter bike at Bicycle Outfitters.
