Had a six hour drive from Gaffney, SC to relocate to Williamsburg, VA. Stopped in Charles City, VA a hub on the Cap to Cap rail trail. Legs were tenderized from yesterday's milage so planned on an easy ride. Course started at the courthouse climbed gently to north to do a small hill five miles in. The route had three sides with the final miles being on the Cap to Cap trail. Felt good for the first ten miles but ran out of gas when the course turned to the west and into the wind. Temperature didn't help much as it was in the low nineties. Good sections of the course were in the shade which helped but the occasional open sections exposed me to both the sun and the wind. Terrain made for good riding being gently rolling, but by fifteen miles I had my fill of riding for the day. Went into survival mode until mile twenty where I got back to the rail trail and caught a tailwind after a couple of miles. Made attempts at rallying and failed and just rode it out. Need to start ramping down to hopefully recover for another metric on Saturday.
