Fairly nice day for a ride with sunshine and a warm sixty degree temperature. Joined up with Mighty Young Joe for a rolling ride into the wind to Ovid. The first twenty five miles was climbing grades up SR 414 into what turned out to be a rather taxing north wind. The shoulder on the highway isn't large enough to support side by side riding, and so we took turns pushing the pace in line. We kept up an aggressive but not necessarily manic pace and cranked out a seventeen miles an hour average to Ovid. The draft was really sweet today with the headwind not so much so. We thought life would get better once we made Ovid and turned out of the wind but were a little disappointed when we picked up crosswinds as much as tailwinds, Road to Interlaken has a clean wide shoulder and we went side by side to crank out the rollers through Interlaken and to T-burg. Ride went well until Perry City where after fifty miles of riding, the wind and rollers started to take their toll and the pace slowed down, We did finish off the with a fifty miles an hour plus descent from Burdett into Watkins that culminated with a frigid blast of cold air driven off the lake by the north wind. Ended up just shy of a decent eighteen average but turned out to be a friendly ride on a sunny day and that's hard to top.
